Licence to Trade in Valuable Minerals, Precious Stones or Valuable Minerals and Precious Stones (And referred to as a Trading Licence hereinafter):
A trading licence may be obtained by any of the Following:-
- Guyanese citizens
- Companies registered in Guyana
Foreign nationals with valid Work Permits (the Commission’s permission must first be sought before applying for a Trading licence)
Required documents
- A written request addressed to the Commissioner expressing a desire to be considered for a licence to trade in Valuable Minerals, Precious Stones or Valuable Minerals and Precious Stones
- Completed application form with signature of applicant (Link to form)
- The Business premises must be inspected by a Mines Officer.
- Copy of a form of Identification (National Identification Card or Passport)
- Copy of Taxpayer Identification Number Certificate (TIN)
- Contact number
- Valid NIS compliance certificate
- Valid GRA compliance certificate
- Certified copy of Business Registration
- Valid Proof of address for mailing and place of business (must be within the past 6-month)
- Copy of the Business Permission (BP) or No Objection Letter from NDC/RDC
- Applications for Trading Licence to operate in Georgetown [geographical boundaries are used as reference] are limited to only trade in Precious Stones. Each application shall be accompanied with a Business Plan that clearly outlines the scope of the business, viability of the venture, source of financing, target markets and other related information as may be required by the Commissioner.
The licence is issued proving all necessary conditions have been met.
Cost
Initial Licence fee: $10,000 GYD surety deposit and $15,000 Licence fee
Annual renewal fee: $15,000 GYD
