The holder of a claim may employ a number of labourers to assist as required, Section 57 of the Mining Regulations.

The holder of a claim shall not employ any person other than an Amerindian in the Mining District as a labourer, artisan or in any capacity whatsoever, save as a licenced prospector, tributor, qualified civil, mechanical or mining engineer, mines manager, assistant manager, dredge-master, assayer or surveyor unless such person has been registered by the Commissioner or by any person designated by the Minister, Section 58(1) of the Mining Regulations.. Registering Officer shall give every person registered a certificate, Regulation 164.

Who can apply?

• An individual who is a citizen of Guyana, an adult and working for a fixed salary
• Non-national with a valid work permit and working for a fixed salary

Requirements

Every applicant shall provide the Commission the following information:-

1. Form of identification (National Identification Card or Passport)
2. Address
3. TIN (Taxpayer Identification Number)
4. Mining District
5. Fee GY$1000
6. Non-National
   1. Valid work permit for non-national
   2. Work permit stamp in passport
