LOTTERY OF MEDIUM-SCALE PROPERTIES

Participants in the lotteries for Special Mining Permits must be bona fide residents of each named mining community to be eligible to participate in the said lotteries and must produce proof of same. This should be in the form of a letter from the Toshao of the village or a letter from the Neighbourhood Democratic Council/Regional Democratic Council/Mayor verifying residency.

 

Interested persons/entities may consult the relevant maps, which are on display at the GGMC Head Office, the Mahdia Mining Station or the Matthews Ridge Community Centre for information on the blocks available for allocation. Maps (less detailed version) will also be available on these websites https://www.ggmc.gov.gy, https://nre.gov.gy/, https://ggdma.com, Lottery maps are also available at a cost of GUY $5,000 per sheet.

 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION

Interested participants are required to complete a registration form and pay a non-refundable participation fee of GUY $10,000.  Registration forms can be obtained at the Land Management Division, GGMC, High and Princes Streets, the Mahdia Mining Station and the Matthews Ridge Community Centre.

 

Note that registration for the lotteries will close on December 10, 2024 at GGMC Head Quarters High and Princes Streets and December 12, 2024 at Mahdia Mining Station and December 13, 2024 for the Matthews Ridge Community Centre.

 

Participants shall not be the holders of more than one (1) medium scale tenure and no large scale licences. Two (2) or more tenures will lead to disqualification.

 

There will be no limitation on the number of entries a single participant can make. Only the first allocation shall be honoured.

 

Allottees will be given the opportunity to apply for their block at the event location immediately after the allotment process (“One-Stop-Shop”). To facilitate the application process, the allottees will need approximately GUY $150,000 (rental of USD 1 per acre and environmental bond) cash on hand to cover necessary payments. In addition, the allottees must present their TIN Certificate, Identification Card and proof of residency.

 

Where allottees do not take advantage of the “One-Stop-Shop”, they will have until January 31, 2025, to file their applications with the Land Management Division at the GGMC Headquarters, High and Princes Streets, failing which, their award will be deemed null and void.               

Ten (10) bonus potential allottees will be drawn and contacted by the Commission, in the order they were drawn, should any allocation become available.
