LOTTERY AND AUCTION OF MEDIUM-SCALE PROPERTIES

The General Public is hereby informed that a lottery of Medium Scale blocks will be held at locations listed below, each commences at 10:00hrs on the dates specified herein:

  1. North West Mining District in Port Kaituma on October 2nd, 2021, at Port Kaituma Community Center.
  2. Cuyuni Mining District in Bartica on October 2nd, 2021, at GGMC Office, 7th Avenue .
  3. Mazaruni Mining District in Puruni at GGMC Mines Station and Papishou at Rondy Blyden’s Shop on October 2nd, 2021.
  4. Potaro Mining District in Mahdia on October 2nd, 2021, at GGMC Mines Station and Ground

 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION IN LOTTERY

Interested persons/entities may consult the relevant maps which are on display at the GGMC Head Office and District Mining Stations for information on the blocks available for allocation. Maps (less detailed version) will also be available on these websites https://www.ggmc.gov.gy, https://nre.gov.gy/, https://ggdma.com, and GWMO Facebook page.  Lottery/Auction maps are also available at a cost of $5,000 each at GGMC Head Quarters, Georgetown, and for viewing at Mining Stations.

Interested participants are required to complete a registration form and pay a non-refundable participation fee of (GUY) $20,000.  Registration forms can be obtained at the Land Management Division at GGMC Head Quarters on Brickdam, District Mining Stations or the GGMC website HERE. Please note that completed forms must be accompanied by original and copies of documents listed below:

 

  • For individuals - ID card/Passport, TIN Certificate, Proof of Address (valid within six months).
  • For companies - Company’s TIN Certificate, Articles of Incorporation, ID/Passport of Directors and Shareholders, Share Certificate/ recent Annual returns.
  • For businesses - Certificate of Registration and the business holder should provide all of the documents required for individuals as listed above

 

Note that registration for the lotteries will close on the September 30th, 2021, two (2) days before the event, at the Land Management Division, GGMC, Brickdam, and District Mining Stations. However, registration will be facilitated at lottery venues up to 6 pm on October 1st, 2021, the day before the lottery.

 

Participants shall not be the holders of any Medium or Large Scale properties and must be citizens of Guyana, eighteen (18) years or older, and in cases of companies have at least 51% beneficial Guyanese ownership.     

Participants shall select the mining district within which their allocation will derive.

There will be no limitations on the number of entries a single participant can make. Only the first allocation shall be honoured. In instances where the same allottee has been allotted in multiple districts, the allottee will be allowed to select one (1) of the allocations for continued processing.

Five (5) bonus potential allottees will be drawn at each lottery location and will be contacted by the Commission, in the order they were drawn, should any allocation become available.                         

Allottees will be given the opportunity to apply for their block at the event location immediately after the allotment process (“One-Stop-Shop”). To facilitate the application process, the allottees will need approximately GUY $180,000 (rental of USD 1 per acre and environmental bond) cash on hand to cover necessary payments.

Where allottees do not take advantage of the “One-Stop-Shop”, they will be given thirty (30) days, that is until November 2nd, 2021, to file their applications with the Land Management Division at the GGMC Headquarters, Brickdam, failing which, their award will be deemed null and void.

An auction for medium-scale properties will be held on October 9th, 2021, at the Arthur Chung Conference Center at 10:00hrs. Please note that opening bids start at GUY $300,000.

Persons interested in participating in the Auction will be required to register and pay a registration fee of GUY $100,000. Registration forms can be obtained at the Land Management Division at GGMC Head Quarters on Brickdam, District Mining Stations or the GGMC website HERE. Please note that completed forms must be accompanied by original and copies of documents listed below:

 

  • For individuals - ID card/Passport, TIN Certificate, Proof of Address (valid within six months).
  • For companies - Company’s TIN Certificate, Articles of Incorporation, ID/Passport of Directors and Shareholders, Share Certificate/ recent Annual returns.
  • For businesses - Certificate of Registration and the business holder should provide all of the documents required for individuals as listed above

Registration will be facilitated at the Land Management Division, GGMC Headquarters, from the September 20th, 2021 and will close on the October 8th, 2021 at 2:00pm. Each registered bidder may be accompanied by not more than two (2) advisors.

Participants in the auction must be citizens of Guyana, eighteen (18) years or older, and in cases of companies have at least 51% beneficial Guyanese ownership.

Payments for blocks won at auction must be made immediately on October 9th, 2021, to the Finance Division and applications for blocks won must be submitted to the Land Management Division at GGMC Headquarters, Brickdam, within three (3) days of the auction, that is until October 13th, 2021.
